For about six years, I did stand-up comedy every night as a hobby after work. Then the Pandemic hit, and my wife got pregnant, so no more going to bars. I turned to Youtube as a creative outlet. First, I did a late-night talk show-style interview series, then comedy bits; then, I switched to cooking on a flat-top grill because I cooked for a living and had some knowledge. The cooking videos did way better than the others, so I stuck with that and have been doing it for 2.5 years.

About Dave:
Dave Cooper is an award-winning builder who now hosts conversations and on-location tours with leaders in the global AEC community. In search of a better way to build more affordable, healthier, energy-efficient homes and buildings using sustainable materials and advanced construction methods, Dave sought out high-performance builders, construction technologists, and sustainability experts hoping to find answers to his own questions. After collecting a series of recorded interviews and meeting with economists, research analysts, investment bankers, and other supporting professionals in the built environment, Dave realized that each โanswerโ he found led to more questions. So to help others make the most informed construction industry decisions possible, Dave launched a Livestream show where viewers from around the world could ask guests questions and comment on the conversation in real-time. Dave Cooper LIVE was officially launched in 2020. For six days a week, Dave was broadcasting live across multiple channels on building science, construction technology, innovation, and industrialized construction, sharing case studies and breaking news events from the industry leaders making the headlines.

He tells his story of getting some old technology from his work and making some fun educational content and then the rest is HISTORY. We talk about his quick success, his YouTube Short strategy, what it takes to succeed on YouTube and SO much more.
About Colten:
My name is Colten Dean (I prefer not to share my last name publicly at the moment) and I'm 26 years old and live near Oklahoma City, OK. I've always been interested in computers and tech, and love tinkering. About 6 months ago, I came across some old computers one day that my employer was throwing out, and I asked if I could take them. On a whim, I decided to record my process of cleaning, upgrading, and testing them, and uploaded them to YouTube. As part of that project, I also made a YouTube short that pretty much went viral, gaining over 1M views. This. I think, gave me a lot of traction early on, and since then, I've continued to make content about older computer hardware and fun ways to utilize them in an attempt to inspire people to tinker with and appreciate older tech in the same ways I have.

307: Talking Pots and Pans and Creating Evergreen Content With Jed Grieve From Cook Culture This week we are joined by Jed Grieve from the Cook Culture YouTube channel. We talk about his success through the pandemic, how he grows his community, makes great money from his channel, and it seeing such great success so fast on YouTube as a business. About Jed: I am a techy turned real estate agent almost 25 years ago, and I owe much of my sales and income to I grew up in traditional brick-and-mortar retail, working with my mother and starting my own business in 2010. I focus on high-end kitchenware and developed a niche for conventional uncoated cookware, like stainless steel, cast iron and carbon steel cookware. The reason that people buy coated cookware is a lack of knowledge and for convenience. Itโs impossible to make conventional cookware more convenient than non-stick coated cookware but it does cook better so we focus on quality and education. We had spent years educating in our stores but as COVID set in I doubled down on our video content. I quickly learned that YouTube was the best marketing vehicle available to me and built 10K followers within a year, focusing heavily on our existing 30K email subscribers who I email 2 to 3x per week. 277: A New Video A Week With Tom Calton This week we are joined by Tom Calton. He talks about how he gave himself 5 years to succeed on YouTube and success came much quicker. He also discusses consistency on Youtube, a video every week, working habits, and MUCH MORE!
About Tom:
I started my Youtube journey back in 2019 as a way to do something creative with my spare time. It took a long time I've been a photographer and videographer since I was 18 but I really started my career when I was 20 when I landed a job working as a writer for the UK's best selling photography magazine called Digital Photo. From there, I was promoted to Technical Editor where I was lucky enough to be in charge of the gear review section of the magazine, testing loads of new cameras and lenses and testing them for review in the magazine. After almost 4 years with the magazine I decided I'd had enough of writing about photography and wanted to take more images, so I quit my job to go freelance and I've never looked back. I now own 2 companies - one specialising in wedding photography and videography, with the other being a media agency that focuses on working with corporate clients to create a mixture of digital content, including photography, videography, 2D and 3D animation, illustration, and graphic design. I employ 2 full time photographer/videographers that work with me (Paul & George) and these are the guys who also help me produce content for the YouTube channel.

275: Using YouTube To Change Girls Lives With Sarah and Kaitlyn
This week we are joined by Sarah and Kaitlyn from the Answering Questions No One Does YouTube channel. We talk about their WHY as to what made them start a channel, making a difference in young girls lives and using YouTube to do so and SO MUCH more!
About Sarah and Kaitlyn:
We have been best friends since we met in 1st grade (over 15 years ago). In December 2018, our sophomore year of college, we launched our channel with a mission. We realized kids in this day and age are so lost and confused due to the amount of โadviceโ on what a good, healthy life looks like from celebrities and influencers who are lost themselves.
The proof is in the pudding: Gen Z is statistically the most depressed, anxious, and suicidal generation of all time. Our channel intercepts the noise of the world and delivers life-giving truth to middle schoolers, high schoolers and college students on everything from relationships, to sex, friendship, spirituality and mental health. Since starting our channel, we have brought our mission into the real world by speaking at universities and high schools. If you would like us to speak at your school, church, or event, please email us at sarahandkaitlyn@yourbestfriends.org.
